Ralf Stullich - Our man on the phone
- 26. January 2024 - General, Genealogy, Personalities
"When you drive into the office in the morning with a grin on your face, you know you have chosen the right job." (Quote from Ralf Stullich)
According to him, he has achieved this with his work for us.
He is your first point of contact with us when it comes to whether and how we can help you. In most cases, you will receive a written offer from him after a brief review of the information you have provided. If there are any uncertainties or questions, he will often pick up the phone and discuss them with you personally.
After graduating from high school, military service, an apprenticeship in the hotel business, a detour into radio, and a second apprenticeship in wholesale and retail trade, he has been a permanent member of the Beyond History family since March 2007. In addition to inquiries and regular research, he is primarily responsible for citizenship and emigration research.
Ralf Stullich actually finds every new assignment exciting, but there are always cases that stand out. For example, the search for the ancestors of one of our US clients: After nothing could be found in the family's supposed place of origin, he was finally able to find out, after some difficult research, that the family actually came from Marlow in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. During a phone call a few weeks after the research was completed, Ralf learned that the client had just become a grandfather. The little girl's first name is remarkable: it is now Marlow, like the family's place of origin. Case closed? Normally, yes, but not for Ralf. He liked the story so much that he quickly called Marlow City Hall and discussed the matter with the mayor. To make a long story short: the town of Marlow sent a package to the USA. The proud parents now have an illustrated book about Marlow and its surroundings and the little one is sucking on a Marlow pacifier! If you would like to read more about this story, we can also recommend our blog post about it.
Many clients assume that Ralf can go back a long way in his own genealogical research. But he honestly admits that this is not the case. After working all day on our clients' family research, he simply does not get around to doing his own research after work: "I know our clients' families better than I know my own. I'll tackle that as a project when I retire."
Ralf prefers to spend his evenings doing things that allow him to unwind and relax, such as cooking for his family, painting, or building miniature horse stables (although his daughter has now outgrown them).
He has also dreamed of playing the electric bass for years. His family, he is married to our founder and owner Andrea Bentschneider, gave him an electric bass for Christmas - and he thought that he could just teach himself to play. But with a recorder background from the 4th grade, it was not as easy as he thought. Now a professional has to help and, according to Ralf, the world tour has been "postponed indefinitely".
So, to everyone's delight, he will stay with our team for a while longer!

My great Grandma or great great grandma was married to a count. possibly 17th century. His spouse died and her aunt raised her. Who would that be.
