Andrea Bentschneider and Beyond History at the German virtual festival Genealogica 2021
Despite COVID-19 you would like to meet German genealogists and listen to interesting lectures on genealogy (in German)? From 12 to 19 February 2021, the virtual festival Genealogica will take place for the first time. It is organized by Anja Kirsten Klein and Barbara Schmidt. Andrea Bentschneider will be there, too, - not only as a participant, but as a lecturer. Her topic will be “Ahnenforschung als Broterwerb: Vom Hobbyforscher zum Berufsgenealogen“ (“Genealogy as a living: From being a hobby researcher to becoming a professional genealogist“). Furthermore, there will be virtual booths not only of the Association of German-speaking Professional Genealogists, but also of Beyond History.
We had already reported on the festival itself. Now, we would like to give you some further information on our contributions to it:
On Sunday, 14 February, Andrea Bentschneider will give a lecture (in German) on “Genealogy as a living: From being a hobby researcher to becoming a professional genealogist”. She will speak between 03:00 and 03:45 p.m. (German time). Why might it be useful to hire a professional genealogist? And what do you need to know, if you would like to become a self-employed professional genealogist in Germany? Andrea Bentschneider took this step 17 years ago and knows exactly what she is talking about. Of course, there will be a Q&A part of the lecture, too.
During the whole festival, the virtual booth of Beyond History will be available. There will be information on our work and our services. On Sunday, 14 February, Andrea Bentschneider will be available for a chat there: In the morning between 09:00 and 11:00 a.m. (German time) and after her presentation between 04:00 and 06:00 p.m. (German time).
Of course, there will also be a virtual booth of the Association of German-speaking Professional Genealogists with information and a chance to chat with several members - among others Andrea Bentschneider. She will be answering questions there on Saturday, 13 February between 12:00 and 02:00 p.m. (German time).
